DJHL Set to Host Two Provincials
Call it the third chance to beat the other five teams for gold. Call it the big finale. Whatever you call it, you can be sure it will be entertaining. The DJHL is quickly getting ready to kick things into high gear one more time as we host the Peewee A Provincial Championship at Paradise Arena B from April 17th to April 19th and the Bantam A Provincial Championship at the new CBS Arena from April 20th to 22nd. 32 games in all! Thanks to player registration fees, admittance is free to all games! The DJHL is pleased to announce that during one evening at both the Peewee A Provincials and the Bantam A Provincials, a hospitality room will be sponsored by our League title sponsor RBC. The Peewee A hospitality evening will run from 4pm to 8pm on the 18th with all refreshments and treats provided by RBC. The Bantam A time slot will be announced later Thank you to Christina Marshall for coordinating the Peewee A evening. More details later on both events. At both tournaments a six player All-Star Team will be named, along with attractive Player of the Game awards handed out after each match. These selections will be made by the Tournament Committee. We are also pleased to announce that Booster Juice is sponsoring the Peewee Provincials Team Skills Competition on the morning of April 18th. The Booster Juice Cup will be up for grabs in an exciting team points format. Big shout out to Terry Dunn for leading the organizing of this event. Additional information on this event has been circulated through the team managers (so, please don't call Steve or Tim about it). On the media side of things, our very own Steve Power will be live on air via the Bell Aliant TV1 webcast for all 32 games. Donations towards new vocal chords for Steve will be gratefully accepted after it's all over. Watch our Twitter and web site in coming days for the link. We've also retained Geoff Hynes of NL DivisionX sports photography to handle our digital action photography. He'll feed us promo shots and parents will be able to access his work for purchase. Check out the Peewee AAA Atlantics site for his excellent work. Finally, good luck to all 39 teams from the DJHL competing during Easter Week. We'll try to keep the Twitter fed with photos and updates! tp
