Sportscraft Stars of Week 2 Announced

news2018-02-17
With lots of superb performances and solid nominations, it was a tough week to decide our Sportscraft Stars of Week 2 in DJHL play-off action. Here are the winners: First star goes to Liam Noble of the RBC Scorpions. The high scoring forward was dominant offensively for the Scorpions in their semi-final opener, firing a natural hat trick in his team’s 6-2 victory over the RBC Falcons. Liam and the Scorpions went on to sweep the Falcons in straight games to earn a berth in the Peewee A finals. Second star is awarded to goalie Cruz Loughlin of the RBC Generals for his superb shut-out performance over the RBC Thrashers in their semi-final opener at Jack Byrne Arena this past Monday night. Loughlin demonstrated excellent rebound control and denied the Thrashers on several breakaways and numerous power plays to pull off the 1-0 upset win. Third star goes to Leo Avery of the Celtics Atom A team. Leo tallied 2 goals (including one in the dying seconds) to tie the game for his team against the Renegades to give them their first point of the season. He added an assist in game 2 of that series, but as the team fell short 3-2 to the Renegades and moved on to the consolation round. Avery and his no-quit Celtics team are perhaps the most improved DJHL team this season. Honorable mention to Kyle Tucker of the Jackals for his four point week in helping the Jackals reach the Peewee A gold medal round; to James Chubb of the Scorpions for his two-play and using his big slapper to score three times; and to Ryder Lewis of the RBC Hawks for his “hard work and determination” leading to goals in both playoff games this past week. Winners can claim their gift certificate prizes at Sportscraft on Ropewalk Lane.
