On December 17, 2021, the Chief Medical Officer of Health and the Department of Public Health updated the restrictions for groups and sporting organizations with respect to the Covid-19 pandemic. As of December 18th, 2021, at 0000 hours, midnight last night, they have put the following in place:
No Tournaments are allowed under any circumstances; and
No play across “Sport Zones” for teams AND individuals

For clarity, Hockey NL in this instance will recognize five (5) Sport Zones:
According to Dr. Jared Butler, VP and CMO with HNL, "This development is unfortunate at any time, but especially heading into the Holiday Season. Hockey NL will be monitoring this situation daily and adjusting with any further direction from the Department of Public Health. We hope to see a resumption of these activities in the new year."
