Play-off Season Begins February 13th - IMPORTANT
news • 2017-02-09
As everyone gears up to make a run for it in the DJHL Play-offs, the League Operating Committee would like to bring three important items to your attention.
1. Posted in our League Info section is a document entitled "Important League Play-off Notice that covers various post-season rules that apply to our League. Team staffs and game officials especially have to be aware of these rules. Association Reps and Referee in Chiefs should post this document in the Referee's Room ASAP.
2. The play-off brackets featured on our League Info page will be updated daily to reflect series winners. Teams should follow these brackets along with the scheduled games as they are posted. Check schedules often because changes are short notice during the play-offs.
3. Intensity rises during the play-offs. That intensity is not just confined to the ice; it surely finds its way to the stands also. The vast majority of fans in any rink are a pleasure to be around and cheer a good play regardless of the team making it. For the small few whose belligerent behavior and abuse of game officials spoils it for the rest sometimes, the DJHL is making it a priority to curtail their negative actions. Watch for a launch of a Twitter campaign in the coming days which will focus on themes of good sportsmanship and mutual respect. The presence of DJHL officials at our rinks will be much more evident as the puck drops to begin the play-offs across our six divisions. We'll be watching the ice...and the stands, but hopefully not much of the latter. As Don Johnson himself always said, "It's all about the kids." He would also remind you that it's "sudden victory overtime", not "sudden death overtime." Cheers!
